The Little Britain Challenge Cup was first held in 1988 as an annual event for the  UK construction industry and continues to attract more and more entrants.

Over the years the sailing regatta has raised money for various charities including the Paralympic Sailing Team, the Jubilee Sailing Trust. and

the Ellen MacArthur Trust. 

The regatta atracts 2000 competitors, however it is also renowned for its social activities, including a Gala dinner on the Saturday evening, situated at Cowes Yacht Haven.
